    Biography

    Wesley Ruggles was born June 11, 1889 in LA, CA and is the brother of Charles Ruggles; he started his film career as a Keystone Cop and supporting comedy player ca. 1914; he appeared in Chaplin shorts such as The bank (1915) and Triple trouble (1918); his directing career spanned 1918-46 and he is best known for Silk stockings, Cimarron, and I'm no angel; he died in 1972.
