Description
Collection contains correspondence to and from Wistaria Hartmann Linton, photography by Wistaria, and some documents related to her time at UC Riverside.
Background
Wistaria Hartmann Linton was born on June 9, 1911 in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents were artists Sadakichi Hartmann and Lillian Bonham Hartmann. She grew up in southern California in the Beaumont area. In 1933 she married Walter Linton, of Cahuilla-Cupeño descent and lived on the Morongo Reservation with their three children. She moved to Riverside, California in 1957 where she became a photographic technician and photographer in the photography lab of the University of California, Riverside from 1957-1976. After retiring, she lived in Utah and Arizona. She passed away on February 7th, 2007.
