    Content Description

    This collection contains two separate packets, each bound by a paper clip that are composed of photocopied scrapbooks pages containing various correspondence written by approximately 22 US Army soldiers from the Philippines during the Philippine-American War. This collection was donated by Keith B. Campbell but their relationship, if any, to the soldiers represented in this collection remains unknown.
    The first photocopied scrapbook has a red photocopied cover, and contains approximately 80 newspaper clippings of published correspondence written by various soldiers between May 19, 1898 to June 13, 1898. Topics discussed in this letters include cross-country transport from Nebraska to San Francisco, California, arrival of US soldiers in the Philippines, reflections on the Spanish forces, and reflections on the Filipino forces.

Topics discussed in this letters include; arrival of US forces in the Philippines; conditions US forces faced in the city of Manila; US soldiers' observations about the local and Indigenous peoples of the Philippines; the Battle of Manila, potentially the Battle of Manila Bay; and a timeline of the Spanish-America War between February 15, 1898 to November 28, 1898.
