System of Arrangement
The Julian F. Knox Collection is organized into two series: Personal Papers and Project Records. The collection arrived with
no evident order, so within each series an order has been imposed by the archivist.
Scope and Contents Note
The Personal Papers series is brief and includes reproductions of student drawings from classes at U.C. Berkeley, a photographic
portrait of Knox, a postcard from photographer Joshua Freiwald, a personal sketchbook, and a selection of Knox's line drawings,
silkscreen prints, and watercolors.
The Project Records contain architectural drawings, primarily from Knox's time as a solo practitioner with a small number
of projects done in collaboration with architect Janis Sulzinger. The majority of the projects represented in the collection
are residential, many of which relate to client Paul Vincent and his development companies.
