Abstract: The Reinhold Schreiber envelopes (SAFR 17845, HDC 392) contains six paper envelopes and one cloth envelope. Five are addressed to Reinhold Schreiber, ship's photographer of the S.S. COLUMBUS and detainee at Angel Island. The other two envelopes are addressed to "Mister Erich Aurich" and Mr. E. Seiferth" of the COLUMBUS crew. Each includes Angel Island as it's destination although one was rerouted to New Mexico. The dates are 1940 and 1944. One envelope has an illegible postmark but the stamps are dated 1939 and 1940. The addresses, handwriting, stamps and the inked postal markings on the envelopes add color and interest to these items, however the letters are not within them. The collection is available for research use without restriction.
