Description
The Los Angeles Master Chorale records range from 1951-2021, and contain the organizational files of the Los Angeles Master
Chorale Association, formerly known as the Southern California Choral Music Association. The collection also contains audio
recordings, video recordings, photographic materials, educational materials, press clippings, memorabilia, and ephemera related
to the performances and organizational activities of the organization.
Background
The Los Angeles Master Chorale Association (LAMCA) is a California non-profit arts organization. The Los Angeles Master Chorale
was founded and incorporated in conjunction with the professional choir the Los Angeles Master Chorale and Sinfonia Orchestra,
in 1964 by Roger Wagner, his attorney and several associates. The Los Angeles Master Chorale and Sinfonia Orchestra was one
of the founding Resident Companies of the Music Center since 1964, along with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association and
the Civic Light Opera. The Master Chorale presented its first concert season at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in 1964-1965,
receiving critical acclaim.

When the Los Angeles Master Chorale donated its records to the USC Libraries, LAMC did not transfer any intellectual property
rights (e.g., copyrights, trademarks, rights of publicity, etc.) to the USC Libraries for any physical materials or digital
files, and such intellectual property is reserved by their respective owners, whether the Los Angeles Master Chorale or a
third party. Any type of use that would require these kinds of rights would be subject to users obtaining necessary licenses
and permissions from all applicable parties. Any right of publication or commercial or promotional use for music and arts
activities of any part of the collection is solely reserved by the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
