Scope and Contents

Collection consists of a blank book divided into two parts separated by 39 blank pages.
Part one is divided into seven sections: 1. A brief "Explanation of the Revelations [because] In viewing scripture we must without bias or prejudice study, compare and examine it by its elf [sic]."--2. The "Hoblyn Family--A true Copy of Mrs. M[argare]t Parker's Will ... signed and sealed by me the Testatrix, the twentieth of July ... one thousand eighteen hundred and thirty one. In the presence of Elizabeth Goodridge, Mary Ann Mackenzie and Maria Goodridge, Spinsters--Teignmouth--Devon."--3. A discussion [19 p.] of "From whence the Hoblyn name is derived. Copied from the Revd. Robt. Hoblyn's book [1601-1841]." Includes a description of the loss of the family home, Nanswhyden, "the destruction of that noble mansion by fire." -- 4. Part of a copy of the last will and testament of Robert Hoblyn [29 p. undated]--the first several pages of the will [unknown number] have been removed by a previous owner. -- 5. A ledger [14 p.] containing a "List of Drugs with Prices." -- 6. Notes regarding the investments of "Miss H[annah] Parker's accounts and directions" dated 1871 and 1879. -- 7. "1879--Copy of Miss H[annah] Parker's Will."
Part two contains a medical miscellany including: 1. A "Tabular View of the Cerebral nerves." 2. A list of the anatomical landmarks of the external ear. 3. Tables identifying the basal temperature of miscellaneous mammals and birds. 4. A discussion or lecture notes on acids [p. 9-38]. 5. "Notes Anatomy and Demonstration" [39-61(62-90)]. Anatomical sketches [41 p.] in pen and ink or pencil; many colored with red and blue crayon. Includes a title page [p.4]: "Inorganic Chemistry etc. etc. Arranged by F. P. Hoblyn, 1839."
