Content Description

This collection contains the correspondence between CPL Stephen Pistone, USA, and his wife, Shirley during the Korean War. Stephen was stationed in Korea with the Special Service. Shirley writes from Redwood City, California.
In her letters she keeps her husband informed about the daily goings-on at home. She talks about her job at the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, how the family is doing, and the plans she has for their future (buying a home and starting a family).
This collection also contains letters written to Shirley from Stephen. In these letters Stephen is mainly concerned with plans for their (his and Shirly's) upcoming wedding. He also discusses his expectaions of what married life should be. They pre-date the letters written by Shirley.
In addition, there is a letter to Stephen from his sister Vilma who writes of her dislike for her sister-in-law, Shirley. This letter was in an envelope postmarked September 19, 1951.
