    Biographical/Historical note

Sacramento Central America Action Committee (CAAC), now called Sacramento Action for Latin America (SALA), is a peace and justice organization in the Sacramento area. It was founded in 1982 (then la Semilla) to support Central American liberation movements and to promote public awareness and understanding of social and political issues in that region. The organization has been particularly vocal about U.S. involvements and policies that affect Central America, and has staged marches, rallies, boycotts, and other public events in support of Central American causes. As part of its social efforts, starting in 1985 CAAC began publishing a now defunct newsletter, which it eventually titled Central American Connection. Presently, the organization continues to promote social and economic justice in Central America through organizing public events and supporting solidarity, education, and political action.
