    Biographical History

    James Day Hodgson was born on December 3, 1915 in Dawson, Minnesota; AB, 1938, graduate student, 1940, University of Minnesota, and UCLA, 1947-48; worked for Lockheed Corporation, 1941-69, serving as vice president of industrial relations, 1968-69; became U.S. Undersecretary of Labor, 1969-70, then Secretary of Labor, 1970-73; senior vice president, Lockheed Corp., 1973-74; ambassador to Japan, 1974-77; chairman of the board, Uranium Mining Company, beginning in 1977; adjunct professor, UCLA, beginning in 1977; visiting scholar, American Enterprise Institute.
