Biographical Note

Wilbur F. McClure (1856-1926) was a civil engineer and served as the head engineer for the state of California. He was appointed by Governor Friend W. Richardson as the representative for the state to the Colorado River Commission and signatory on the Colorado River Compact for the state of California.

The Wilbur F. McClure papers are comprised of documents pertaining to the Colorado River Commission and Colorado River Compact. Files include extensive correspondence, reports, and newspaper clippings. The collection is primarily related to the Colorado River, the Colorado River Commission and Compact, and the Boulder Dam (aka Hoover Dam) project.

Van Dyke (Chair of Arizona contingent to the Colorado River Commission), Friend W. Richardson (Governor of California), George W. P. Hunt (Governor of Arizona), Clarence Morley (Governor of Colorado), Nellie Tayloe Ross (Governor of Wyoming), George H. Dern (Governor of Utah), Arthur T. Hannett (Governor of New Mexico), J. G.
