Abstract: In 1946, a small group of parents in Los Angeles pooled their resources to create a daycare program for their children with developmental disabilities. The following year, the Exceptional Children's Foundation was incorporated with its mission as providing the highest quality services for children who are challenged with developmental, learning, and emotional disabilities--empowering them to reach their greatest potential. Over the years, the mission and vision of the Foundation expanded to include adult services, with many service sites throughout Los Angeles County and specializing in early education, art centers, adult residential services, and mental health services. The Foundation's headquarters is currently in Culver City. This small collection of official records consists chiefly of Board meeting minutes and annual reports mainly from the 1970s through 2002, with a few earlier documents from its first few decades of existence.
