James Richardson, a senior writer for the Sacramento Bee, wrote a biography about Willie L. Brown titled "Willie Brown: a
biography" (published in 1996). Willie L. Brown was the former mayor of San Francisco and the first African American legislator
to represent San Francisco in the California State Assembly (1980-1995).
