    Biographical / Historical

    Jason Hahn (born Hahn Chang-Ho in 1893) was a Korean immigrant to the United States after being exiled from Korea. He attempted to establish the first Korean Independent Air Force and formed an alliance with An Ch'ang-ho. While in California, Hahn was part of the first established group of the First Korean National Air Force trained in Redwoods, California.

    Scope and Contents

    This collection consists of the personal papers and memorabilia of First National Air Force member Jason Hahn (born Hahn Chang-Ho in 1893). Hahn was a Korean immigrant in California after being exiled from Korea following his attempts to establish the first Korean Independent Air Force and forming an alliance with An Ch'ang-ho. Items in this collection consists of an embroidered handkerchief, photograph negatives, a traditional Korean clothing item, religious books in Korean, a plaque, flag, certificates, a 1974 banner, correspondences, newspaper clippings, photocopies of scrapbook pages, videotapes, and magazines.
    The "Korean Culture" magazine, produced by the Korean Cultural Center of Los Angeles on korean culture includes an article written about Hahn as well as a fictionalized story about his life written by his son, Richard S. Hahn, M.D.
    The VHS and umatic tapes include an interview with Hahn in 1994 by Quan Chang and an oral and film history of Hahn Chang-ho and his family in celebration of his 90th birthday in 1984.
