A collection of posters, photographs, ephemera, event programs, publications, newspaper clippings, and other material relating to the USC Korean Film Festival. The material in the collection was created between 1995 and 2017. The collection includes a 2002 poster signed by director Im Kwon-taek and a poster and group photograph from the Centennial Celebration of Chinese Cinema at the 2005 Annual Conference of the Asian Cinema Studies Society (ACSS). The material in the collection belonged to David E. James (School of Cinematic Arts, University of Southern California), who launched the USC Korean Film Festival program in 1998. Following the inaugural 1998 event, James continued to organize the film festival until 2017.
The School of Cinematic Arts and the USC Korean Studies Institute have collaborated on the USC Korean Film Festival since 2008. This program was first launched by Professor David E. James of Critical Theory in the School of Cinema in 1998 through his organization of veteran director, Im Kwon Taek's first North American retrospective hosted at USC.
