Abstract: The San Francisco Maritime State Historic Park graphics records (SAFR 22252, HDC 1591) consist of 7 black-and-white photographs and 4 pieces of paste-up graphics, all relating to a SFMSHP brochure from the early 1970's. The content pertains to displays and activities at Hyde Street Pier. The artwork items include one original illustration in watercolor, color pencil and pen and ink in black and gray tones on illustration board, undated and unsigned; two mechanical layouts with half-tone reproductions of artwork, spaces for photographic images, and text overlay; and one mechanical layout of text for a title page.The watercolor features the HERCULES and sailors. The photographs feature SFMSHP, Harry Dring, WAPAMA, C.A. THAYER, and EUREKA. This collection is processed and available for use.

Historical or Biographical Note

The San Francisco Maritime State Historic Park was established by an Act of the California State Legislature in 1956 and operated as a State Park until 1977. The State operated Hyde Street Pier and the Haslett Warehouse. Vessels included C.A. THAYER, WAPAMA, EUREKA, ALMA, and HERCULES.
