Logbooks for Steam Schooner Idaho and Schooner William H. Smith (SAFR 16476, HDC 196) consists of three logbooks and two additional
items.The logbooks, in general, record time, place or headland, compasses, wind, weather, climate conditions and remarks on
tests, boat drills and seas. Two volumes are for the IDAHO, first of which is a mate's log that documents voyages made in
1926 between San Pedro, California and Grays Harbor, Washington, San Francisco and San Diego, California. The second IDAHO
log describes voyages made in 1929 between San Pedro and San Francisco, Grays Harbor and Aberdeen, Washington. It also contains
a flyer encouraging unions by the International Seaman's Union of America. The third volume is a smooth log for the WILLIAM
H. SMITH engaged in codfishing during 1933 to 1935. It documents voyages leaving Sausalito and San Francisco for the Bering
Sea and records wind, seas, locations and sails. It also contains a piece of letterhead stationery from the Union Fish Company.
