Abstract: A. C. Dixon was a Baptist clergyman and writer. He served as pastor to churches in North Carolina, Maryland, New York, and Massachusetts and as minister to the Moody Church in Chicago and the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England. The collection includes addresses, articles, biographical material, book manuscripts, booklets, conference programs, correspondence, date books, subject files, 1300 sermons and notes, and scrapbooks.

The original collection is held by the Southern Baptist Historical Commission and housed at the Southern Baptist Historical Library and Archives.

Scope and Content of Collection

The papers of Amzi Clarence Dixon, numbering approximately 6,100 items, are stored in 30 archival boxes and four scrapbooks. They contain an outstanding collection of sermons, sermon notes, and illustrations. The 130 sermons compose about one-half of the material. The correspondence section was used extensively for research in the writing of his biography, "A. C. Dixon, a Romance of Preaching", by Helen C. A. Dixon. The manuscript of this book is also in the collection.
