area of San Francisco, California. The collection has been processed to the Collection level and is open for use.
Contains one black-and-white letterpress postcard, 3.5 x 5.5 in., captioned "Water front San Francisco." The image shows the
Mission Street Wharf area of San Francisco, California, 1885-1906. The Western Fuel Company coal pier is in view as well as
several sail and steam vessels. BAY CITY (built 1878; paddle ferry) is docked in the lower left corner and docked above her
is THOROUGHFARE (built 1871; paddle ferry). The postcard was published by Edward H. Mitchell of San Francisco, image number
548.
