Abstract: This diary focuses on Woods time in the San Francisco area and San Joaquin Valley. Much of the diary is devoted to his surveying journals and anecdotes about Civil Engineering. It begins on July 11, 1881 with a newspaper article about a young man S. Hopkins accidentally shooting his new wife. The diary describes the events of his daily life. Assorted papers found in the back of the diary are also included in the end of the journal including sketches of the San Joaquin valley, personal notes, and receipts.

Not much is known of E.F. Wood, including his given first name. He was an early resident of the San Francisco Bay area and a civil engineer.

This diary focuses on Woods time in the San Francisco area and the San Joaquin Valley. Much of the diary is devoted to his surveying journals and anecdotes about Civil Engineering. It begins on July 11, 1881 with a newspaper article about a young man, S. Hopkins, accidentally shooting his new wife. The diary describes the events of his daily life, as well as sketches of the San Joaquin valley, personal notes, and receipts. Loose papers (train tickets, notes, etc.) were removed form the diary and are sleeved in the folder.
