Description
This file contains a small, leather bound, hand written in ink diary, written by Andrew Jackson Mason, during his overland
journey from New Independence, MO to "the head waters of the Humboldt River" and the gold fields in 1849. The diary is in
good condition and the hand writing is very clear and legible throughout.
Background
Mr. Mason became a member of the Society of California Pioneers on May 4th, 1885. He arrived in California on September 5th,
1849.
