Farrington Lowry, also known as Mrs. R.B. Lowry, lived in Niagara Falls, New York. This
diary documents her life on the homefront from 1943 through 1947. Lowry recorded daily
activities covering rationing, comments on the war, meals, errands, the weather, and what
was happening with her family members.

Millicent Farrington Lowry, also known as Mrs. R.B. Lowry lived in Niagara Falls, New York.
She was born to Ezra Jacob Farrington and Ellen Hill (1868-1945). Her son is named Robert
and served in World War II. Her husband went by Bob and worked in a plant in Tennessee on a
"secret" project which Millicent indicates was the atomic bomb.
The diary documents Millicent's life on the Homefront from 1943 through 1947. Lowry
recorded short entries for each day, and then went back and recorded the day's entry for the
next year on the same page so that a single day from 1943 through 1947 can be viewed on the
same page. Lowry recorded daily activities covering rationing, comments on the war, meals,
errands, the weather, and what was happening with her family members including her son
"Robert" and her husband "Bob." Her son was in the army during World War II. The entries
notably mention Bob's secret work on the atomic bomb, and the end of World War II with
Robert returning home safe. The front of the diary indicates that it is Volume 7. The last
pages of the diary contain a short family history, and small facts and notes such as roman
numerals and how to use a watch as a compass.
