Description
Photographs of gold and copper mining in Australia, approximately 1895, taken by American mining engineer Louis Janin.
Background
Louis Janin (1837-1914) was a mining engineer and metallurgist educated at Yale. He made his professional mark on the Comstock Lode in Nevada in the early 1860s and went on to have a long and notable career as a consultant for a wide variety of American and international firms.
