Scope and Content of Collection
Album 38 contains photographs of construction work on the WP Railway North Fork Division taken by Division Engineer Emory
Oliver. Includes Oroville to Spanish Creek at Tunnel 38. Includes photos of rough terrain along the North Fork of the Feather
River, showing early construction work and the grading of the line.
One part of album 39 was created by WP engineering staff for Virgil Bogue, the Western Pacific Vice-President & Chief Engineer.
Includes photographs of stations, living quarters, depots, and other structures in California in April and May of 1909.
Another section of this album was compiled by W.H. Butts, Assistant Engineer. It includes photographs of structures in Elko,
Nevada.
Subjects of loose pages in the back of this album include the construction of Chilcoot Tunnel and construction camps in Nevada
and locations in Utah.
Album 40 includes photographs of general construction, fills, tunnels, depots, towers, and outbuildings covering the area
between Niles and South Tesla Junction (Carbona).
Album 41 contains photographs of Western Pacific construction sites all dated Jun. 5, 1909. Includes buildings at the Oakland
Mole, Oakland Terminal, Niles, Stockton, and Sacramento.
Album 44 is a book of photographs of Western Pacific Railway line in Plumas Forest Reserve, taken at the request of Virgil
G. Bogue, Western Pacific Chief Engineer in his letter of Apr. 11 [year not given] to Emory Oliver, Division Engineer]. Shows
very early stages of surveying and construction. Each photo has a location caption.
