Scope and Contents
The materials consist of Harry Meusel's letters home to his parents and siblings while serving as a hospital steward in the
Philippines during the Spanish American War and subsequent conflict with Philippine insurgents. The letters are accompanied
by photographs of his voyage to Manila aboard the U.S.S. Sherman transport ship, camp views and images of the men of the 3rd
U.S. Infantry in the Philippines, and a cabinet photo of Meusel in his dress whites taken in Manila. Also included with one
of the letters are several small fabric samples.
