Biography
Norman Zenos McLeod was an American director, active from 1928 to 1959. Among his best-known features
are MONKEY BUSINESS (1931), HORSE FEATHERS (1932), PENNIES FROM HEAVEN (1936), TOPPER (1937), THE SECRET
LIFE OF WALTER MITTY (1947), and ALIAS JESSE JAMES (1959). In the late 1950s McLeod directed some
episodic television.
Collection Scope and Content Summary
The Norman Z. McLeod papers span the years 1917-1960 and encompass 4 linear feet. The collection
contains scripts, biographical information, some correspondence, original drawings by McLeod, military
records, and writings by McLeod. Four scrapbooks chronicle McLeod's career from the 1920s to 1950s.
