Abstract: Save the Castro was an ad hoc political organization founded to stop evictions under the Ellis Act, keep chain stores from moving into the Castro neighborhood, and to minimize the effects of increased tourism from the F line. Collection includes meeting announcements, flyers, correspondence, information sheets, news clippings, buttons, stickers and t-shirts. Mention is made of the Castro Citizens Congress, Castro Area Planning and Action, the Eureka Valley Promotion Association, the Coalition for Sustainable Neighborhoods, and the Castro Neighborhood Council.
