Abstract: Papers, photographs, and ephemera belonging to Clyde and Marguerite Hickey, Mill Valley residents from the mid-1950s until
their deaths in 1980 and 1995, respectively. The bulk of the materials pertain to Clyde Hickey’s military service during World
Wars I and II. Additional material documents Marguerite Hickey’s employment with the Western Merchandise Mart.

Biography/Administrative History
Clyde Seymour Hickey was born on November 19, 1898 in New York, and died in Mill Valley on April 29, 1980. Marguerite Gertrude
Hickey (née Kohn), was born in San Francisco on November 12, 1905 and died in Mill Valley on May 11, 1995. Clyde Hickey served
in the U.S. Cavalry during the First World War and in the Navy during the Second World War. By 1954 the Hickeys were living
in Mill Valley, at 285 Hillside Avenue. Clyde Hickey operated a party boat, The Clymar, out of Sausalito in the 1950s, and
was Director of the Schenley Sportsmen’s Club in San Francisco. Marguerite Hickey worked for Western Merchandise Mart in San
Francisco as Advertising and Publicity Manager and later worked for the Northern California Electrical Bureau.
Scope and Content of Collection
This collection contains one box with 10 folders and one separately stored panoramic photograph of Clyde Hickey’s Cavalry
unit. The material consists of books, photographs, and correspondence relating to Clyde Hickey’s military service and correspondence
relating to Marguerite Hickey’s position at the Western Merchandise Mart.
