Biography/Administrative History
Nevada County, California, original part of Alta California and then Yuba County, California, after statehood, became a California
county in 1851. The "Nevada Journal" was established that year, followed by a few dozen additional titles into late 20th
century. Issues have been preserved, mostly on microfilm, and are available for examination and printed copies.
Scope and Content of Collection
The vast majority of the newspaper holdings are on microfilm. A small number are collected issues. Vintage bound volumes
are held, but microfilm versions preferred for conservation.
