Description
This collection contains records from
the UC Santa Cruz Asian American/Pacific Islander Resource Center (AA/PIRC). Included in
this collection are administrative files, photographs and ephemera from events, and
resources. The AA/PIRC, founded in 1998, provides a central resource for AA/PI students to
address their academic, social, and cultural needs.
Background
The Asian American/Pacific Islander Resource Center (AA/PIRC) works with UC Santa Cruz
students who identify as part of the Asian American, Pacific Island, and Southwest Asian and
North African (SWANA) diaspora. The resource center was founded in 1998, partically in
response to demands from student activists who protested Proposition 209. One of the primary
goals of the AA/PIRC is to provide a central resource for AA/PI and SWANA students to
address their academic, social, cultural, and other needs.

files are available in the UCSC Special Collections and Archives reading room. Some files
may require reformatting before they can be accessed. Technical limitations may hinder the
Library's ability to provide access to some digital files. Access to digital files on
original carriers is prohibited; users must request to view access copies. Contact Special
