This series is primarily made up of material documenting Weber’s more than 30 years as a science consultant for SCOE, from 1949 to 1979, including education materials, correspondence, research materials, and publications. The records have been divided into seven subseries based on subject: general SCOE material science, history, trees, water, desert, and animals.

Series 3. Japanese American Student Exchange and Conference ca. 1934-2005

Series Scope and Content Summary

This series consists of items from Weber’s long association with the Japanese American Student Exchange and Conference (JASC) program as both a student and an adult supporter. Material includes conference brochures, registration forms, and other records; the JASC quarterly newsletter; photographs from Japan and the Pacific; ephemera; postcards; and periodicals. The series also includes two folders not related to Japan: one contains several periodicals and a letter from a Finnish educator regarding Finland, and the other includes copies of select pages of a scrapbook from Farnham, Surrey, England, called the Hale School Scrapbook. As no other material in the collection relate to this scrapbook, it was removed from the collection and attempts have been made to return it to an appropriate institution in Surrey.

Series Scope and Content Summary

This series contains Weber’s personal correspondence and research materials. The records include house histories for the Weber family’s various residences, as well as genealogical research materials for the Weber family. As Weber’s extended family were Primitive Baptists, there are various publications from Primitive Baptist organizations, including sermons and histories. Weber was also involved with the Unitarian Universalist Society of Sacramento, and the series contains the Society’s directories from 1964 through 2004. Also of note are the records related to California State University, Sacramento’s Renaissance Program—an educational and enrichment program for seniors—from 1998 through 2005. The majority of the personal files in the series date from Weber’s retirement in 1979 until his death in 2008.
