This collection contains a book of receipts for San Diego businessman Charles Deleval, dated from October 31, 1874 to September
3, 1878.
Background
Charles Deleval was a businessman active in real estate, an express service, and a liquor business in San Diego in the late
nineteenth century. By 1874, he was operating his express service out of a building at Fifth Avenue and F Street, which later
became known as the Spencer-Ogden building.
