Scope and Contents

"Commercial album of blank leaves containing 34 mounted, signed, medical lecture admission tickets between 1872-1874 and additional inserted ephemera pertaining to exams and graduation. Some water damage to covers; front hinge broken; shaken; contents clean."
"An album of memorabilia pertaining to the medical education and graduation of Francis C Hand at the Univ. of PA. The lecture admission tickets are engraved and printed on various color coated card stocks. They measure appx. 194 x 227 mm. Each card is signed by Francis and counter-signed by the professor responsible for the course. The courses were in surgery, obstetrics, materia medica, anatomy, institutes of medicine, medical theory etc.. There is Agnew for surgery; Joseph Leidy for anatomy; Rogers for chemistry; Carson for materia medica; Stille for theory, etc. Hand was trained as a surgeon and presented a paper on the excision of the knee joint for graduation."
