    Scope and Contents

This collection contains 42 letters from Sgt. George Hall, USA to Lorraine "Lorry" Natzke during the Second World War. The correspondence was written between May 1943 and August 1945 and describe daily army life and his duties in the Finance Department. The letters are largely lighthearted, focusing on the kindess Lorry showed to George by writing him and sending care packages. Of particular note are Hall's descriptions of the several places in which he was stationed, including North Africa, Italy, and Germany.
Also included in the collection are printouts of Second World War statistics, and Veterans Affairs documents detailing an effort by Albert Silvernail (presumably the son or father of Lorraine Natzke Silvernail) to locate George Hall in 1978, in order to return some personal property of his.
