George Stanley Scott was born on November 15, 1896. He had a wife, Dores Elida, and two girls, Lillian, and Vivian.
Scott began his career with Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe 1917 as a Seal Clerk. In 1927, Scott was promoted from Chief Clerk
to Travel Freight and Passenger Agent in the Los Angeles area. On October 1, 1942, Scott was promoted to Assistant Division
Freight Agent (Acting) at Los Angeles and on December 1, 1945, to Division Freight Agent at the new freight office in Long
Beach, California. In 1947, after 31 years working for the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe, Scott retired from the railroad to
take a position as a sales representative with Hode Zinc Company of Long Beach. He died in 1978.

Includes railroad passes, membership cards and congratulations for promotions received by George S. Scott during his 31 year
career with the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe system in the Los Angeles, California area from 1917 to 1947. Passes document
travel by Scott on the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe system, as well as other railroads such as Southern Pacific, Pacific Electric,
Union Pacific, San Diego and Arizona, Tonopah and Goldfield, and Tonopah & Tidewater. There are membership cards for the American
Legion, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Los Angeles Athletic Club and the Pacific Coast Club, and the Southern California
Passenger Association. There are also a World War II draft card and a 1942 membership card for Scott asidentifying him as
a Santa Fe traffic representative issued by the War Department, Los Angeles Engineer District and a war ration book for Mrs.
Scott. Fishing and hunting licenses document Scott's interest in these activities.
A photograph of Mr. Scott in the Long Beach office circa 1946 has been removed from the collection and placed in our photograph
collection.
