Background
Elvesta Isabella Ehrhardt Jamieson, a lifelong resident of Sacramento County, was born on November 19, 1882, one of eight
children of John and Caroline Ehrhardt. Her brothers were Frank, Henry, William, John, Newton and George Ehrhardt, and she
had one sister, Nellie Ehrhardt. Elvesta lived with her family in Franklin, California, before heading off to school at College
of the Pacific in San Jose in 1908. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1912, and in 1914, married John A. Jamieson.
Jamieson was born in Ontario, Cananad, on April 20, 1876. He had moved to Sacramento by 1900 and enjoyed a long career as
a tin smith and sheet metal worker, though John worked as a farmer for a short time in the 1910s, when he and Elvesta lived
in the Sacramento River Delta town of Vorden.
