Abstract: This collection contains correspondence, articles, clippings, notes, manuscripts, photographs, pencil drawings, and other
material that for the most part documents Rodriguez-Alcalá's academic work as a literary critic engaged with writers of Hispanic-America,
particularly his native Paraguay. Most (1963-1982) of Rodriquez-Alcalá's academic career was spent at UC Riverside (Hispanic
studies); his work focused on "modern Hispanic-American narrative", an emphasis reflected in alphabetical subject files that
include a range of material pertaining to authors, including samples of authors' correspondence, some dating to the mid-nineteenth
century. A manuscript of his book
Historia De La Literatura Paraguaya (1970) is also included.
