    Biography/Administrative History

    Marion Adair Larison Stroing was born December 1, 1923 in Redding California. She attended Greenville High School graduating in 1941. She then went to Heald Business College in San Francisco. She married Clifford Stroing around 1941. They had two daughters Susan (Greco) and Kathleen. She worked as a secretary for the United States Forest Service her entire career in Greenville. Adair was very involved socially in the Daughters of Rebekah of Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.) Adair belonged to Freja Historical Rebekah lodge No. 284, I.O.O.F. of Saratoga, Plumas Rebekah Lodge No. 27 I.O.O.F. of Greenville, Almanor Theta Rho Club No. 49 I.O.O.F. of Greenville, Plumas Ladies Encampment Auxiliary No. 63, I.O.O.F. of Quincy, Willows Rebekah Lodge No. 163, I.O.O.F. of Willows, Orland Rebekah Lodge No. 191, I.O.O.F. of Orland all in California from 1967-1989. She held the office of Outside Guardian Rebekah Assembly of California 1967-1968. She died June 18, 1991 in Chico California. Clifford Ivan Stoing was born October 23, 1917 in Westwood California he attended Red Bluff High school. He spent his career driving logging truck. Clifford belonged to Greenville Lodge No. 252, I.O.O.F. of Greenville, Plumas Rebekah Lodge 27 I.O.O.F. of Greenville, Orland Rebekah Lodge No.191, I.O.O.F. of Orland, Stoney Creek Lodge 218, I.O.O.F. of Orland all in California from 1976-1997. He died in Elk Creek, CA September 10, 2010.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    The collection includes the early administrative records of the Greenville Odd Fellows Lodge No. 252. The majority of the collection is Rebekah Assembly materials collected by Adair Stroing. This includes scrapbooks and photos of the organizations many activities. The scrapbooks chronicle not only her local involvement, but also activities of the statewide conventions and her daughters’ involvement in Theta Rho. The bulk of the publications are from the Rebekah Assembly of California.
