Ellen Terry (1847-1928) was a leading British actress in the late 19th and early 20th centuries; for many years, she performed opposite Henry Irving at the Lyceum Theatre, London. Her career included celebrated roles on stage and film; she was made a Dame Grand Cross in 1925.
