Abstract: This collection contains material belonging to Charles Blanton, a former resident of Compton, CA. A majority of this collection
is comprised of material from his time as a member of Black Sheep Harley Davidsons for Christ Motorcycle Ministry (Black Sheep
HDFC); stereograph cards; and Centennial High School yearbooks and memory books from reunions.

Biographical / Historical
Charles Blanton attended Centennial High School in Compton, CA (class of 1966). He was also a resident of Ponoma, CA and was
part of the planning commission from 1987-1991; the Futures Committee; the Fire Deparment Affirmative Action Plan; as well
as other committees and received mulitple Goddess statuettes from the City Council in recognition of his service.
Blanton was also faculty at California State University, Fullerton and retired during the 1989-1990 academic year; and was
employed at Compton Unified School District where he retired in 1984. Blanton was also a member of American Legion Riders
and the Black Sheep Harley Davidsons for Christ Motorcycle Ministry (Black Sheep HDFC); and was a photographer.

Scope and Contents
The Charles Blanton Collection (1950-2016; undated) contains 17 boxes of material belonging to Charles Blanton, a former resident
of Compton, CA and includes: a retirement scrapbook; photographs taken by Blanton; material related to his time as a member
of Black Sheep Harley Davidsons for Christ Motorcycle Ministry (Black Sheep HDFC) including Harley-Davidson memorabilia,
patches, pins, hats, poker chips, and other material; material related to the "Run for the Wall" event founded by Vietnam
Veterans; and material related to Centennial High School reunions such as memory books and programs. Also included are stereograph
cards; yearbooks; children's toys belonging to Blanton's father; awards; letters from the City of Ponoma regarding his voluntary
service to the city; and other material.

Collection was donated with the cooperation of the Compton 125 Historical Society, 2018.
