Abstract: This collection represents the political campaign files documenting the founding of the Santa Barbara California's Committee for Measures A and B and its successful work in gaining voter approval of parcel tax measures to benefit the elementary and secondary schools of the Santa Barbara Unified School District. The collection is housed in one document box and spans June 2012 through December 2012.

Scope and Content

This collection represents the political campaign files documenting the founding of the Santa Barbara California's Committee for Measures A and B and its successful work in gaining voter approval of parcel tax measures to benefit the elementary and secondary schools of the Santa Barbara Unified School District. The collection is housed in one document box and spans June 2012 through December 2012.
The election, held on November 6, 2012, secured the required 2/3 majority vote to pass the measures and provided $12 million in funding for educational program in the Santa Barbara Unified School District. The Santa Barbara Education Foundation's board president, Salvador Guerena, was co-chair of the campaign committee. The collection includes files on the origins of the parcel tax measures, political campaign strategy, organizational development, outreach and publicity, field work, campaign funding, volunteer recruitment and coordination, and public opinion related to the measures.
