The Diane Jane Honodel papers span the years 1904 to 1982 and document elements of Honodel's personal and professional life, from her time as a Sacramento-area resident to her extensive involvement in theater. Her papers are comprised of a variety of materials, including scrapbooks, handwritten notes and sketches, newspapers, theatrical and musical performance programs, and other personal and printed materials.
Diane Jane Honodel was born in Chico, California on May 21, 1930 to Thelma Honodel. After graduating from Sacramento's C.K. McClatchy High School in 1947, Honodel attended Sacramento State College and earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in English and speech. She continued on to complete post-graduate work at the University of California, Berkeley, eventually earning elementary and secondary teaching credentials before spending four years teaching second grade, high school, and junior college.
