A collection of letters from New Orleans businessman Jeremiah C. Garthwaite to his brother Jacob T. Garthwaite.

Jeremiah Crane Garthwaite (1807-1883) was born in Newark, New Jersey, the son of a Revolutionary War veteran. In the 1830s Garthwaite moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, and was a partner in a wholesale clothing business which was dissolved in 1860.
