The Robert H. Lloyd Papers document his employment as a conductor and brakeman on the Southern Pacific Transportation Co.'s
Western Division between 1960 and 1983, as well as Lloyd's membership and and his position as a steward of the United Transporation
Union local 239.
Background
Robert H. Lloyd began working for Southern Pacific's Western Division in July 1960 as a brakeman and was promoted to conductor
on May 9, 1966. The United Transportation Union appointed Mr. Lloyd as steward of local 239 in Febrary 1973. His wife was
a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary to the UTU lodge 957. She served as lodge Secretary and President for a time.
