Description
The collection contains building permits, inspections, and other records from the City of Sacramento Building Division. Included
are building permits and inspection reports from circa 1905 to 2005 and plumbing permits and inspections from 1894 to 1966.
Many paper building permits and inspection reports are enhanced by their associated microfilm versions that often include
more information, like building plans.
Background
The Building Division of the City of Sacramento regulates construction and development within the city limits in order to
safeguard and ensure the health and safety of the public. The division issues permits, reviews plans, and inspects building
to ensure compliance with building codes. It is currently under the Community Development Department (2019).
