Description
The bulk of this collection is comprised of the papers of Julia, Charles and Maisie Dittnock, and printed material collected by the family while they resided in Sacramento. Papers include various certificates and diplomas from area schools and colleges, U.S. Post Office employment records, local ephemera and photographs.
Background
Born in 1886, Julia Dittnock resided in Sacramento her entire life. Julia married Arthur Dittnock (1886-1968) and had two children, Charles (b. 1917) and Maisie (b. 1920). Charles Dittnock graduated from Sacramento High School and served as a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Sacramento for over 20 years. Maisie Dittnock graduated from Sacramento High School in 1939 and went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree from Sacramento Junior College (1941). She married Kenneth D. Wennesheimer in 1942 and taught at Joseph Bonnheim School in Sacramento for manyyears. In 1957, Maisie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Sacramento State College.
