Historical note
The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Center for Language Education and Research (CLEAR) was a federally-funded
five-year project lasting from 1985-1989. The Center was part of the UCLA Center for World Languages. The purpose of CLEAR
was to improve the quality of language education in the United States. It's chief focus was on English proficiency with a
simultaneous commitment to the maintenance and development of heritage language proficiency.
Scope and Content
Record Series 418 contains files stored on computer floppy disks, generated by the Center for Language Education and Research
at the University of California, Los Angeles between 1985-1989. Files include file back-ups, book chapters, reports, and researcher
files. Files are available on are 5.25 inch floppy computer disks; file formats and original software include DOS 3.2, Lotus
(.wks), DBaseIII (.dbf, .ndx, .lbl, .prg), and Wordstar 2000 (.wst).
This is an inactive record series; no additional University records are expected to be added.
