Abstract: The collection consists of materials related to the activities of the Corona del Mar Business Improvement District (BID).
The primary focus of the materials represented in the collection is the revitalization program for the Coast Highway, and
an extensive amount of these files relate to the replacement of the ficus trees along the sidewalk with king palms and Hong
Kong orchids.

Biography/Administrative History
The Corona del Mar Business Improvement District (BID), created in 1997, comprises an Advisory Committee and a body of members
made up of business owners within the boundaries of the Corona del Mar Business District. As part of its efforts to beautify
the village of Corona del Mar, California, the BID undertook a large project to revitalize the Coast Highway which runs through
the community which included refurbishing the medians at Marguerite and Pacific Coast Highway, replacing the ficus trees along
the sidewalk with king palms and Hong Kong orchids, new trash receptacles, new bicycle racks, and new trash benches.
Scope and Content of Collection
The collection consists of correspondence, financial records, minutes, notes newsletters, drawings and photographs related
to the activities of the Corona del Mar Business Improvement District (BID). The primary focus of the materials represented
in the collection is the revitalization program for the Coast Highway, and an extensive amount of these files relate to the
replacement of the ficus trees along the sidewalk with king palms and Hong Kong orchids. There are also materials related
to the BID’s interest in obtaining jurisdiction over the state-owned highway and sidewalks, preparing for the annual Christmas
Walk, and planning for the celebration of Corona del Mar’s centennial in 2004.
