    Biographical / Historical

    Hal Roach (1892-1992) was an American producer, director, and writer of film and television comedies. Roach has 159 directing credits, 196 writing credits, and 1204 producing credits from his 1915-1960 career. He is best known for the Our Gang (1922-1944) and his work with Laurel and Hardy (1927-1955).

    Scope and Contents

    This collection includes production notes, scripts, and financial records for American producer, director, and writer Hal Roach's film and television projects with Pathé Exchange, MGM, and the Hal Roach Studio. Production materials for Laurel and Hardy, Our Gang (1922-1944), and The Public Defender (1954-1955) are among the titles represented in this collection.
