OC Stories was created in 2013 through a Library Services and Technology (LSTA) grant awarded by the U.S. Institute of Museum
and Library Services and administered by the California State Librarian. OC Stories built on an earlier digital image collection
created in 2007 through a California Local History Digital Resources Project (LHDRP) grant. Since the creation of this original
collection of library-owned images, OC Stories has grown to include thousands of digital images and videos which have been
shared with OC Public Libraries by various Orange County organizations and individuals.
Scope and Content of Collection
OC Stories collects images and videos pertaining to life in Orange County, California. It documents people, businesses, institutions,
and events of historical significance in the diverse communities that make up Orange County.
